I saw this post by Leon (in the Sandbox) and thought I would bring it to the prop forum where we are always looking for ways to save pins. Thanks Leon and others smilewinkgrin.gif·· http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=859619

Here are some links from that thread...
www.romanblack.com/shift1.htm
www.edn.com/contents/images/6598372.pdf
and PhiPi's circuit to give you an idea of what possibilities this has
attachment.php?attachmentid=65423

Possible uses (are any of these possible???)....
  • I2C·devices ???
  • SPI devices ???
  • PS2 Keyboard ???
  • Serial LCD (CLK & DATA) ??? (Peter has·a nice 128x64 LCD)

Certainly access will be slower, but sometimes that does not matter and if there are not the spare pins - well no alternative really.

Can anyone get a PS2 Keyboard working using 1 pin ??? Is it possible (I haven't looked at the protocol) ??? I was going to use a PIC10F2xx or MC9RS08KAx (SOT23-6 or SOIC8) to convert a PS2 Keyboard to 1 pin serial, but this would be much simpler idea.gif
