HERO using my 2600 driver

Hi All,

Just to let you all know, now that I'm back from Eindhoven, and then a trip to the office down in London, I'm recovered and fully refreshed :) ie I've had sleep etc. lol

I started on getting HERO converted to the prop, and thought I'd do a game in stages.

I've taken the original 2600 driver, which already had the display background for HERO, and sprites

So tonight, I've got the HERO character moving around under keyboard/joypad control, and collisions with background working, he can land on the floor, and walk on it.

Next will be to get multiple rooms in :D

Then baddies, bombs and bullets.

Will keep updating as I progress.

Enjoy.

Hi All,
I finally managed to get some time to play, and updated it a little ;)
I now have rooms working, and the dynamite being able to blow the walls :)
Still a lot to go, but I thought I'd update you guys, so you can see some progress.

Still to do :-
Scoring
Lives
Baddies
Bullets
Guy to be rescued
Audio
More Levels
Gravity, IE Hero falls when you don't press up for a while.

There's probably some more that I've forgotten, but it's fun to play at this stage, hence the post.

Enjoy,
Baggers.

Hi peeps,

Happy Christmas to you all. :)

I was trying to get this game finished for Xmas, but have had lots of catch up to do with family and friends since finishing work for the hols on the 18th, so have barely had time to touch it :(
So as it's Xmas, I couldn't leave you without anything ;) so I'm posting it in an unfinished version way, call it work in progress :D
I'll try and finish it before the New Year.

Enjoy...

Baggers.

This is definitely one of the best Propeller games yet. IMHO.
I used to play this a lot on the C64.
Keep up the good work!!

I can't wait until it's finished :)
Maybe I'll just start up my C64 and play it for a while.
But it whould have been soooo much better to play a full featured version on the prop. (I don't want to pressure you ;) )

Happy new year!!

I know Ahle2 lol ;) I'm trying to find some prop time, but seeing family etc over the hols, is taking most of my time, but I'll get on it soon as I can, as I'd like to play it fully too, the next thing I'll do is death, so it's more playable! :D

This game is really turning out! :)

The last few Propeller games released here have really raised the bar!

I'm looking forward to seeing the next levels!

Hi All,

Just thought I'd update, as although I've not had much time to play on it, I've at least got deaths in :D to make it more playable, plus a few other little things.

Enjoy

Here is a sound improved version of hero. (hope you don't mind Jim)

Changes:
- Fixed the bug that caused the fuse to go silent in your last version.
- Added death sound.

Thanks Ahle2, I've been a tad busy with work flying me back and forth to the office many times in the last month, it's been hectic, but should hopefully calm down again soon, so I can finish Hero off :D

Cheers,
Jim.

I know what Hero is, though I have only played the C64 version. Even if it looks exactly the same, I am the type of person that always likes to see screenshots of game projects.

BTW, I need to try out some of the projects that have popped up in the last few months. Now that I have a little free time, I should do some catching up.

@Jim

Featured the game in my first demo of the arcade control panel.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYtSMuI8w_s

Found a small glitch you'll see in the video. Dynamite flash changes
the color of the next screen if it explodes while moving to the next screen. :)

@Baggers
I think the new version of SIDcog (used in the Hero version I uploaded) fixed some small sound issues.
The envelope handling is a lot better now.
Since I implemented SIDcog_Lite instead of SIDcog it leaves some more bytes over for you to make levels.

Btw, You will have to give credits to Michelle for finding the "bg color bug". ;)

@JT Cook
The C64 version is a lot better looking compared to the Atari 2600 version that Baggers game is based on.

Ahle2, yes, I will give Michelle a credit for finding the bug :D, and thanks for finding the extra bytes, I think it'll all fit in anyway, all being well.

Oh Ahle2, I think JT Cook was talking about the screen layout, not the actual visual look of the game. :D or at least I think that's what he was getting at lol

I just wanted to see what the Prop version was looking like, nothing more, nothing less :)

I am not working on any Prop stuff right now, most likely not for a while. I have some other stuff on the burner I am working on, but it isn't Prop based.

Also the Prop arcade is pretty sweet! At some point I want to make my own arcade game, but that project most likely won't happen until I move out of my apartment and into a house, and there is no eta on that one :)

Sorry mate, it's been a hectic week at work, considering it was supposed to be quietish, I can't go into details online, as it may go against my case, but that may give you a hint of what's happening.
Anyway, I'll try and have a go over the weekend, as we're trying to come to some sort of way forward, so it's quiet, while they think.
So like I say, hopefully I'll have a go tomorrow, and try and finish it off, or at least do a good portion of it :D

Cheers for being patient,
Jim.

Ahle2, Sorry for the delay mate, there's two issues, the first issue is the main one, Work I can't say on here, just yet, but will say once it's sorted.

The second delay, which has only been since the Maker Faire, is the fact that Coley has my kit :D as I left it all with him, cos with it being mothers day on the sunday, we came back early.

but it'll get done soon don't worry :D
