Color LCD direct drive?

I've always wanted to run a color LCD (like a cellphone LCD or IPOD LCD, something small like 160x120) from a micro controller. I always thought there might be an IC that did page flipping or something. Where you the MC could update a memory set, then could trigger the LCD display IC to show that "page" while the MC is updating the other page. I really dont have much understanding uf proper display methods, so thats why I'm asking.


Anyone know of ways?


P.S. - things like the Propeller can do video, but thats composite, so it would need to be converted again to the LCD language. I'm looking at direct driving.

They're dinky cellphone units, but may have possibilities.

Thats pretty cool looking, and price isnt bad either. But still a bit bulky. When I think of a MC, if feel the entire device needs to be small as possible. I've seen the new Texas Instruments wiki.msp430.com/index.php/EZ430-Chronos?DCMP=Chronos&HQS=Other+PR+chronoswiki-pr open source wrist watch, but it has a segmented display. I always wanted to do something like that, but use a color pixel display.
