PING and LabVIEW

I have the BOE (USB) with BSII and the PING sensor. However, I need to control/measure using LabVIEW, not the PBASIC program provided by Parallax. I've looked at sample LabVIEW VIs and other documents posted at Parallax, but I've had no success finding anything particular to LabVIEW and PING. Frankly, I'm new to microprocessors and sensors, but I do have some knowledge of LabVIEW. The PBASIC program to run the PING sensor is several lines of text (PULSIN, etc.); the sample LabVIEW VIs I've found here send a short string (something like $IDN?, an identifier string).
Can anyone tell me how to send pulses at regular intervals and read the data in LabVIEW. This does not have to be real-time; the data could be saved to a file for later analysis by LabVIEW.
Thanks in advance.

You need a micro between the ping))) and labview.
