Propeller Tool Bug? - RTS Clobbered During Programming?

Hello All,

I have been trying to build a Propeller serial port programmer that uses only four pins so it is compatible with the prop-plug (does not require +3.3V from Propeller board). The plan was to take the voltage from RTS instead of the +3.3V from the Propeller board. I was encouraged to see in Propeller Tool V1.2.6 it is possible to select DTR, RTS or DTR & RTS for the Propeller reset signal (see Edit > Preferences > Operation), and that the default is DTR-only. This implies RTS is left alone.

Unfortunately this does not appear to be the case. I measured the serial port output during the hardware discovery transmit process by pressing F7 in the Propeller Tool with no Propeller connected. Attached is a diagram of the waveforms observed (sorry, my DSO is on the fritz, so the drawing is from my analog scope which can't plot via GPIB).

As you can see, both DTR and RTS are being pulled negative by the Prop Tool. I'm pretty sure this should not happen if the port is configured for no flow control (it is in my Control Panel at-least) and DTR-only reset is set in the Propeller Tool.

I have verified with Hyper-Terminal and TerraTerm Web V3.1 that with no hardware flow control RTS is left at a positive voltage at all times.

I think there is a discrepancy with the way the Propeller tool is working. If I set the Propeller reset signal to DTR only, RTS should not be pulled low. Before I contact Customer Service, does anyone have a different opinion?

Thank You, David
