Apparently the UK is getting battered with some horrendous storms. Since many Propeller forum members live there I just wanted to be sure everyone was safe. Take care all.

    Apart from my roof leaking after some expensive repairs, it's OK here in St Leonards/Hastings. Water seems to be blowing in under the eaves. It's nothing like as bad as 1987 when we had a semi-hurricane, we had a large tree blown down in the garden, and some roof damage. Three people in Hastings were killed - a couple in a hotel when the chimney stack collapsed on them and a fisherman at the harbour.

    I'm a Brit living in Finland. So I check a few UK weather sites and can't see any mention of storms anywhere. The UK Met Office just says "generally windy". Where did you get this?

    I was in a house that collapsed during the great storm of 1987 in southern England. Many were amazed I survived being buried under many tons of bricks and roof slates. Winds there were gusting to 120mph.

    @heater,

    The storms have gone now, so probably are not being reported any more on weather sites. 300mm+ of rain in 24h. Cumbria is now cleaning up from aftermath - many bridges are still in danger of collapse. See http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8373217.stm

    P.S. I was also in London in a house that suffered damage in 1987. Fortunately, only a chimney collapse. I didn't even wake up - I got up normally the next morning to go to work, and only realized something had happened when I got to the station and found there were no trains running. Then I came home and discovered the hole in the roof!

    I did see the bridge down on the news. That's just a bit of rain, should be used to it in Cumbria :)

    Man you must sleep well. I was woken up that day by a thump on the roof. After that I don't remember what happened until I realized I was buried under half a house with my head sticking out of the bottom of a pile of rubble. Amazingly after an hour or so the firemen had me dug out with barely a scratch on me.

    This is seriously off topic unless someone is using their Propellers for wind speed measurement :)
