Perhaps this is blasphemy, but I don't think the next general Parallax microcontroller should be called "Propeller II". Sequels are rarely as good as an original, and I think this connotation would apply to the next microcontroller should it be named "...II". A new name shows originality and demonstrates that the next generation microcontroller is not just an incremental improvement on the current one.

THE PROPELLER II WILL NOT BE READY IN Q1 2010!!!

What we plan to do soon is fabricate a test chip so that we can prove all the subsystems that will go into the final chip. We are still a ways from being done with complete design.

Sorry to let you all down. I'm sure Ken didn't mean that the chip would be for sale in a couple of months when he mentioned a "shuttle run".

A shuttle run is where a foundry gathers designs from perhaps 40 different fabless chip companies and mixes them onto the same mask set, then fabricates perhaps 20 wafers. Afterwards, the various ICs are cut out of the wafers, packaged, and then sent back to the customers. This way, mask costs (about $180k) are shared among customers so that they can affordably try out their designs (well, at a cost of about $40k) and receive at least 20 chips.

We will do a shuttle run for the critical guts first, then another if we need to make changes to the guts, based on testing. After that, we will do a full-chip shuttle run, followed by perhaps another, until everything is perfect.

No unfortunately the idiots let the machine choose the wrong numbers, again.

It was a shameless plea, worth a shot. I remember seeing one micro that had a piggy back EPROM on its top. I suppose I could stick chips into a block of resin and hail the new contoller, with all the advantages.

I still have 2 that micros --- It was Z8 micros that in plastic comme with mask program and piggy was for development mask rom.

It was nice news that some of my ideas comme with Propeller II.
Have some more that ideas BUT Chip not answer my PM's that give me no posiblity to give that ideas to Him.
And some of them I will never post on forum.


BUT still Propeller I have much to give ... All that people found Propeller can DO is not 50% what can be done with it.
Have good work with Propeller I'm to busy to post much on form ( Designing some PCB for PROPELLER I ) that is mostly done
