hi everyone,

i gotten a thermopile lately, and·i fail·to get the reading (output) from the output pin.
i connect the +5V and GND according to the datasheet, and i try to measure the output pin, but i only get a 2.5V constantly no matter where i direct the thermopile to.

can anyone tell me that the thermopile needs some application circuit for it?

thank you very much!

Maybe if you provide a link to the data sheet or at least a part number, somebody will know what you're talking about.

This is all I could find http://www.datasheetarchive.com/pdf-datasheets/Datasheets-310/111964.html Not the same part but there are some circuits on the last page. Could you attach a copy of the datasheet you have?

A thermopile is a millivolt generator. You don't hook it up to 5V. It generates a voltage proportional to the temperature, a few hundred millivolts when it gets heated by a gas furnace pilot light.

What's your application and where is your data sheet?
