What are the features of PropGFX and where can I find it?

I have recently heard about PropGFX and I have seen some extremily impressive video demos of it. Where can I find this program for download?

Thanks,

Micro

No, not the default Graphics driver, the PropGFX driver written by Coley for his Hybrid gaming system. I went on the site and could not find it, but it looks so inpressive that I must find it for download!

I'm curious about that too.
Still don't know the features.
I thought it was only for a Co-Propeller video system that someone else designed according to their own preference.
I thought it involved a special high-color video interface using multiple cog video generators, extra diodes and resistors.
(Does that description sound familiar, or like something else I might have seen here?)
Is GFX the one with the demo of flying around mazes/tunnels/letters or something with a propeller beanie?
Is it simply a special alternative to GRAPHICS.spin?

In general I wish it was clearer what things were for.
For example, I still don't know what an AVR or Arduino is for, or what it does that I'm missing out on.
I still don't know what dotNET is, other than a TLD that's none of Microsoft's business,
or the world's slowest Windows programming language, if you could even find it and enter some code.
Those aren't your products, but I didn't even realize GFX was until now. and I still don't.

Hi microcontrolled, Thanks for the compliments ;)

It's not available for download, as it's a standalone graphics co-processor device, built in a Dip40 format.
Unfortunately both Coley and myself have been overly mega busy with work, and have had to put it on hold for the moment, but we WILL be releasing it as soon as possible.
I'll have a chat with Coley tomorrow, and see if we can come up with a release date ;)

Cheers,
Baggers.

I've been anxiously waiting.... Most of those demos look like they couldn't even be done on the prop! If it comes out, I will get a Hybrid!

btw microcontrolled, it has many features, many graphics modes
2 colour, 4 colour, 16 colour and 256 colour bitmap and or charmap modes
All with the addition of 4 or 16 colour 16x16 pixel sprites
On the bitmap modes, you can have a reduced sprite count, for the addition of a drawing engine ( poly's etc )
On the charmap modes, you can have a reduced sprite count, for the addition of a scroller engine, which will scroll the screen and update the edges with either a charmap, or a tilemap of 2x2 or 4x4 or 8x8 tiles of 8x8 chars.
You can talk to it serially or over the databus (8 data pins + 2 control pins)

Hi,
It's unfortunate that the final work on this coincided with me having my busiest ever year in business. Hopefully things will level off a bit now and that should give me more time to produce the boards . I'll give an update after Eindhoven.
Regards

Coley

I figured that the Eindhoven demo was going to be something based on this. Since you are the game experts of the forum, I might as well ask another question. Is that SRAM graphics driver worth dishing out 59.99 on an SRAM card for? Does it really allow you to make much better games because of the double buffering not being on the HUB RAM? It's off subject, but just asking.

I'm probably opening myself up to some flaming here but what the hell.....

IMHO this whole SRAM thing is a red herring as far as high speed graphics are concerned.
The hub bottleneck has too much of an impact and affects the overall performance.
This is not to say however that the SRAM will be more than useful for other things.

We've done some tests with a minimal setup, Prop, SRAM and Video DAC and the results weren't that encouraging to be honest.

Regards,

Coley
