Hey all, I'll be posting a new robotic project on this thread, so I'm saving this as a place holder (and a location for some customers I'm seeing to download the code).

Thanks, Ken Gracey

Oooooo........Chris is going to get you............Ooooooo

He will be on here shortly to poke you with a stick about your code and schematics. smilewinkgrin.gif

Oh well......since you are affiliated with Parallax, I guess we all can give some leeway.

Yes, when it comes to programming Chris is one of my supervisors! And believe me, James, I need one (or many).

It'll be a week before I utilize this thread. Hope you can wait okay!

    Ken,

I was just poking fun at you.......

I personally have no problem with it........

I do notice when Chris jumps in to state when a post is "off topic". He is very tentative here........

I haven't ever had a problem with any Parallax employee (owner, partner, etc) nor their actions. Which coming from me is a huge complement (I tend to be critical).

Please......I am interested to see what the project is though.....

    It's all good!!!

@James: Yeah, Chris will be on this one before too long. It'll take him at least a day or two since he's been so busy lately.

Project is a Propeller-based robotic system with handheld transmitter, talking robot with sensors and remote receiver with VGA output. Pretty basic, really, but a handful for me. It represents very basic high-level use of key objects in OBEX.

It will be interesting to see if this is a walking or rolling robot
and if it has TTS/Text To Speech using the Propeller chip.

    My prediction:

It is Ken's robot (the wooden one with racing stripes). The robot will have three pings, a protoboard with Xbee, a IR temperature sensor, and the bright blue EL wire. The purpose of the robot is to wander around without hitting anything until it finds a human (determined by temperature), and then to incapacitate ( 'take out' ) the human with a high pitched and angry female voice. Once the human is incapacitated, the robot notifies the remote operator via the wireless and VGA. Body disposal is optional.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "It's good to be king!"?· Well, it's good to be VP too...· =)· Maybe it's a perk!· Ken can reserve the whole forum without so much as a peep from me.· blush.gif

Now, on the other hand...if he needs additional consecutive reply spaces in this thread you can all say goodbye to your replies.· tongue.gif

Well.....then I guess it is good to be king.

I wondered how far a forum moderator would go. I guess the moderator would go as far as I (not very).

My replies were not important anyway......just a way to poke fun at Ken. He builds a lot of projects, but I rarely converse with him. I will be interested to see the completed project.

Okay, you guys got me on this one - squanderer of resources! I am not the big cheese around here and you guys know that already. That role is quietly saved for Chip (the big nut)!

I'm not sure we have a big cheese anyway - don't they get to fly first class? This chunk of brie will never make it out of economy class.

Cheesy, yes, but "big cheese" no.

The project decided it didn't want to be finished yet, and I won't be needing this thread . . .just yet.

And since when did you start thinking my projects would be so interesting, anyway? You know that I'm little more than rookie-hobbyist when it comes to electronics. Sometimes my projects look neat, but they only leave me thinking of better ways next time.

Anybody mind if I lock the thread and let it fall off the first page of the forums?

    Yours, Ken

It's a bit drastic... The only locked threads are announcement threads, a few tutorial/resources type threads, and some controversial threads...

Ken, no problem, just harassing you...... I think updating the title with something that states this project has been delayed works.

    Ken,

I personally feel no one here really is concerned if you ever post anything to this thread (or close it). We all understand that other priorities come up, and you are no different.

It also shows that many here value you as a person they like. It is evident by the little comments on this thread. We are just trying to be funny, and make you feel like part of the crowd.

I like the idea of you putting the effort forward to play with the items that Parallax creates. It shows you are interested enough to learn more about what you manage. It shows a lot of character. I tip my hat to people in your position which dive deeper to understand and participate.

Don't worry about the thread.....just post progress when you get the chance. I'm sure there are many here who love to see your progress. I know it inspires the newer people who have joined the electronics game.

    Group hug......

    James L
