Switching Power Supply question

I'm looking for a regulated power supply to go into a console holding basic stamps and a bunch of other electronics, including a ham rig. On Ebay I found a (switching) power supply, with 110 in and 12, 5 and 3.3 out....which is perfect for my needs. But I'm not sure what a switching regulated power supply is as apposed to just a regular regulated power supply. Does anybody know if the switching part is going to cause problems with my stamps...such as noise, or is it a good thing?

I build lots of switching regulators and most of the smaller regulators are switching.

Switching power supply is a power supply that uses PWM and an LC circuit to get the desired output voltage. They are very efficient usually between 80 and 98%

Cheap wall worts are unregulated and output voltage is a percentage of input voltage.

Analog regular just waist excess power by converting it to heat. there efficiency is almost directly related to voltage change. Eff=Vout/Vin*100%

You should not have any problems with a switching regulator unless you need extremely acurate refrence voltage(like in AD circuits) if you need that use a analog regulator to drop to a steady voltage.
