The BASIC Stamp Bug is a kit designed by Parallax distributor Milford Instruments of the United Kingdom. The electronic insect uses two feeler contact switches to sense obstacles, servos to drive leg movements, and the BASIC Stamp I DIP interpreter chip as the microcontroller.
How do you program the Stamp Bug to stand on its hind legs.
Here is a link to a video of a modified Stamp Bug.
Obviously, you have to add more servos, one to move the counterweight flap that tilts the Bug up on its hind legs, and another, continuous motion servo, that has the spiral on it and turns the bug when it's on its back. It's a great video and a terrific modification of the Stamp Bug, but it's not just programming.

I sent Milford Instruments an e-mail. I will let you know if I hear something. Looks like this little bug was made a good while back though!

Too bad - It looked pretty cool.

I bet I have watched that video a dozen times.
Wish I could get my hands on a bug type robot.
