Hello all,
This time, i have a new Question.
It seems that propeller can work at 80 Mhz.
Can't we reduce the cycle time and increase the frequency to raise the speed?
I think there is a way.

My Props are working at 104MHz from a 6.5536MHz crystal. Others here are getting to 120MHz.
Needs a good PCB and appropriate decoupling capacitors.

Like all overclocking it has its limits, and in the propeller it seems to be around 124 MHz. If you want something multicore and faster, look elsewhere. There are dual-core ARMs at +1GHz, the XMOS chip at 400MHz (also 4 cycles per instruction minimum).

Like heater, I also have some props at 104MHz for a lack of 6.25 MHz crystals , and some at 96 MHz. It may depend on the problem you are working on. See my sig for a couple of examples where more frequency made sense.

sanket: I thought your project was to reproduce a prop cycle exact. There other methods but that is a new silicon design for the prop. FPGA implementation is a completely different thing. Of course it can be faster, but it will not run at the low power of the prop. The prop II will use more power because of finer geometry.

Did I misunderstand. Is it that you want to implement the Prop cycles differently so that it does 1 instruction in less than 4 clocks. I have no idea how but I guess it can be done. But would that not have a bad effect on existing code that relies on the current clocks and cycles?

Each instruction requires four memory accesses. To pull off one instruction per tick throughput, you will need a four-port RAM, so the pipeline stages can overlap. That's how the Prop II is going to accomplish the feat.
