Hello;

Does anybody know if there is mechanical drawings available for the stingray robot. I am looking for the measurements of the hole patterns·on the sensor plates. I wanted to get some equipment handles to protect the ping sensors I am thinking of using. Thanks···

    peblades,

    Standard door or drawer pulls are too wide. I will measure this and post the dimensions. Chris Savage said he used small rack mount handles from McMaster Carr in this the thread linked here - http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=846123

    I was looking for some locally and couldn't find anything small enough. I am remembering something like 3", but don't trust me until I've measured it again! nono.gif

    Hello whit:

    I remember seeing some 3 inch and other small equipment handles on mouser. I was going to order from mouser for some other parts any way. I don't have a sting ray yet probably wait till xmas. Thanks for your response and the link with the pictures of·some equipment handles on a sting ray.

    peblades,

    Glad I checked! The big ones on top are 3" centers. The ones on the sensor mount plates are around 2 -1/8"· center to center max.

    Timmoore,

    I like those - plus they project out 1-1/2" rather that just 1".

    Whit,

    The 1" x 2" ones were the ones I ordered.· They worked great, however the very tiny aluminum threads strip very very easily.· Be careful when snugging these up.

    Any good hardware source/store (here's the McManster link) will probably have U-Bolts that would work well for bot bumpers. The smalest I saw was 1/4-20, but they come in round, square, various materials and finishes, with or without flat mounting brackets and they even have some that are rubber/plastic coated.

    To "soften the blow" I was going to use those squishy foam hair rollers around them. Of course, I may have to find some way to cover up their bright pink color.

    I ended up getting some of these http://www.mcmaster.com/#15145A33/=49r7td and work fine. They have a larger bolt than the ones Chris used - 8-32 they are very tight in the front slots, I used a drill to widen the slots at the right place to fit.
