Hello.
I want to know, using the 'Gripper Kit for the Boe-Bot Robot' is it possible to hold a
80 mm x 80 mm x 80 mm cube ?

It looks like the gripper jaws are about 30mm too narrow. :-( Any way to put a "handle" on your cube for the gripper to grab? You could add hardware extensions to grip a wider object, but you would give up the ability to grip smaller objects and the extensions might also require you to add counterweighting to retain the bot's balance.

From page 14 of the assembly instructions: http://www.parallax.com/Portals/0/Downloads/docs/prod/acc/GripperManual-v3.0.pdf

Your Gripper is now ready to lift:

    - Objects up to 2 in. (5 cm) wide
    - Up to 4 oz (113 grams) without counterweight
    - Up to 14 ounces (397 grams) with counterweight (not included)
Please note that these measurements are approximate; individual Gripper performance may vary
with battery charge, servo performance, and actuator rod adjustment.

    Hi Duffer,

    · What kind of counterweight do you need for the Boe-Bot?· The instructions state that the counterweight is optional. Parallax doesn't have it, so what kind do you use and where do you need to mount it on the Boe_bot?

    Thanks for your help.

The counterweight is not an optional "part" that Parallax might carry, but rather an option that that one would need to take in order to keep one's bot balanced when lifting an object at the front of a two-wheeled, tail-dragging bot. Generally you·could use any attachable heavy weight at the back of the bot to counterbalance the load that you're lifting in the front. You could attach pieces of lead,·add an extra battery pack, etc. ·I've used brackets with a vertical rods that I placed large nuts onto. Let your imagination run wild; I'll bet you can come up with something creative.
