Stingray Battery Access

Hey Stingray Owners,

I just put my Stingray together·today (been too busy - should be able to give some good feedback soon)·and was really thinking about the battery location situation.

After the chassis was together - I discovered that it is very easy to remove the two screws (top and bottom)·nearest the tailwheel assembly that hold one of the rear sensor mount plates (next to the battery holder). Then just loosen the other two screws·(top and bottom) and the sensor mount plate can swing out like a little door. Change batteries, close the "door" and retighten two screws and replace to two removed screws. Simple as can be. If there are any scratches to the finish, they are completely hidden, when the plate is in place (though mine did not scratch).

This will work whatever battery solution we end up with.See attached pic.

The quality of everthing is outstanding! This is robot is a great deal at $299.99.

Whit, thanks for the tip for others Stingray users. Your feedback is appreciated. There will be some application notes including sensors coming very soon. Stay tuned!

This same technique will work great for adding sensors to the three front sensor mount plates.

that is a great idea. Perhaps I will re-think the behind the controller board location I am using currently. I wonder if there are any springy-nubbie-thingies that could take the place of the two screws that you are removing. I know there has got to be a more technically correct name for what I am thinking of, but it escapes me now
