That Im selling them for? Name your price, Ill tell you if I accept it. I got them so cheap that I will sell them cheap and still make a profit.

I decided that I think I should give 10 percent back to him of whatever I make. Would that be good?

Look the "both" thing was a joke and nothing else. You know the true lesson I learned here was to treat others the way I want to be treated.

But in the whole situation, think of it my way. I'm 14 years old and I have not had a job for over 6 months. I'm scrolling trough Ebay and I see this awesome LED deal. I figure I can finally make some Christmas money by selling the LEDs since they were such a great deal. I buy the LEDs and then I get a message from the guy saying he mislisted and that I should cancel the transaction. I asked my dad what I should do and he sayed I should ask for my LEDs and if he argues it I should cancel the transaction because that means he needs the money. (My dad is very kind, generous, and giveing, but when it comes to Ebay, he's gotten ripped off and robbed from so muh because of his generosity on Ebay that he thinks that anything is a way to steal your money.) Also, from previous experiace he has learned that the seller cannot just cancel a trasaction, the buyer has to just not pay for it. If you do not pay for it, negitive feedback is put on your name saying that you do not pay for items you buy. Even if the seller comments and says that they legaly canceled it the feedback is still on your name and it subtracts from your good feedback percentage. From his perspective I wasn't doing anything wrong, then I go on here to be greated by heckling and telling what I should have done when its too late to change it. Most of the people getting on to me I do not even know from this forum! Please just let it go, you've already made me feel guilty for my desision. I just wanted some LEDs to make a matrix, and now my forum name is blemished because I did what I thought was a good idea. I'm not blaming my dad at all, he is innocent in the part that he just did not want me to be ripped off like he has been, but when your family tells you one thing and strangers another, who are you most likely to believe? I'm sorry to many of you on here that I have made myself look bad to you.

@Micro,

Don't be hard on yourself. At 14 you've got a lot more life lessons to go.
You'll make mistakes along the way. Learn from them.. I'm almost three times your age
and are still in that process. :)

Keep in mind that the folks on this forum are other humans too who have also bumbled
along life's path a bit...

At the end of the day, if you can look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you've
done the best you can do then you'll be ok. If the guy you see tells you otherwise,
then you have time to fix things. :)

Personally, I see a 14 year old with a bright future.. Keep moving forward.
Nothing is ruined at this point.

Microcontrolled,

good that you cleared up that you were joking in saying " both " --- even with the 'smily' afterwards it wasn't obvious :) (Sometimes a "just joking" AND a smily get's it across).

No, your name is not blemished - and like OBC says, I think too that you're being too tough on yourself. It is also very respectible that you have gone through this mini-ordeal here somewhat publically.

Consider it this: if all the rest of us were perfect, WHY would we be here in the first place, eh?
We learn from each other - and especially from the mistakes, be they technical or social.

Dust yourself off, young man, and move on ... each step is an opportunity to practice good.

-H

No big drama, but just for your future reference:

Well since I started the negative feedback on this thread I am going to give microcontrolled the benefit of the doubt and say I think he has learned a very good lesson, I can understand the initial excitement and quick post. I would not feel at all bad if you just expunge this entire thread however it may just help some other young lad that reads it. I learned a good lesson in my youth (several actually potentially that could have had me in the slammer) but my dad said, “when you are out there in your own and you do something, just stop and think for a second, ask yourself, what would my dad think about this.” That helped me stay out of trouble quite a few times and from your post above, sounds like you have a pretty wise dad.

No worries mate, just try and mend the mistakes along the way, we all make them and those that see the error in their ways are much better for it. Your name is not tarnished in the least with me and i will help you with any problems you post on this forum in the future. Perhaps even how to use an SLA7078 stepper driver, but first I have to post my own questions on it because I have spent hours with no luck at all and I am getting a tad upset that I can't get it to work.

microcontrolled,

Lessons learned the hard way are the longest remembered. It happens to all of us. (Heaven knows, I've received more than a few indelible impressions along the way!) When in doubt, just remember always to err on the side of generosity and compassion.

But for now, chalk this one up to a learning experience, and move on. It probably wasn't the first, and it certainly won't be the last! smile.gif

Oh I just remembered I made a killer digital candle program for the tiny13 that would use up quite a few of those yellow LED's (I would make one for a parallax product but I don't think they compete with 65 cent chips.) Anyway, I would order 2500 of those yellow LED's you may be stuck with with an offer of 0.015 cents each. (one and a half cents per LED just so we are clear) I plan to make little engraved acrylic signs that have a simulated candle glowing. (2 leds are used for the candle)

We had Ethics & Morality Time and that was a failure because, apparently, two wrongs do make a right if your Dad has grievances, you're "only 14" and like to kid yourself.

Now, I guess,·it's Literacy Time.·
OK, look --·"0.015 cents" each is·NOT the same as 1.5 cents each (which is $0.015 each.)

I wondered how long it would take. Nice call PJ he he... That's why you have to write out the amount when you write a check otherwise we may have made a deal at 0.015 cents.
