Hi, somebody can explain why in Applied Sensors pin 8 of DS1620 is connected to Vss with a capacitor 0.1 µF and not in StampWorks?
Note that the capacitor shown page 11 has a polarity.

The capacitor is a bypass for the power supply, from pin Vdd (pin 8) to Vss (pin 4). It is not required when the power supply is well filtered, but bypass capacitors across chips are in general good practice. I this case, the project also included a DC water pump, which draws more power and puts hash electrical noise onto the power supply. The bypass capacitor right across the DS1620 assures that the hash won't affect the temperature measurement. It is especially important to include a bypass capacitor on the DS1620 if it is mounted on the end of any length of cable.
