New user, having trouble installing the editor

I purchased the Boe-Bot USB modle and I installed the editor (Stamp Editor v. 2.4.2) on my XP desktop computer.· It worked just fine.· The manual states that the minimum requirements for a computer system is Win 98 so I got an old laptop that is running Win 98 and tried loading the editor onto it.· I got a pop-up that said "This software requires Win 2000"· How can I make it work on the Win 98 machine, or where can I find a version of the editor that will work on Win 98?

Thanks.

The problem is the version of the BASIC Stamp Editor you're using. It does not support Windows 98.

As per the website...you will need version 2.3.9 for Windows 98.

The older version does work under Win98. I don't have a current installation of it, but I have used 2.3.9 under Win98 in the past.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling. Make sure the USB driver gets installed. If need be, download a fresh copy of the USB driver from FTDI's website

Will try that it used to work on the machine fine then I updated forgot to say I'm using serial not USB though. Will it still make a difference? I did uninstall and reinstall with no success. I get the splash screen for the editor then the editor window loads behind the splash screen and it freezes up right then with the editor half loaded behind the splash screen.

    SethPM,

What firewall or anti-virus software do you currently have installed and/or running while you did the Editor install? If any, could you deactivate and try the install again?
