I would be interested in a 7"lcd with touchscreen

The resolution is a bit low @ 480x234

I have seen similar ones with 800x480 resolution

what sort of cost are we talking of ?

is the controller chip an ILI9328 or similar ?

Sounds pretty good! The 8-bit interface is nice for pin-starved Prop1...

I can supply 7" 800x480 with a VGA interface, about $140USD+s/h for samples, 4-5 week lead time.

I'd have to get back to you on quantity pricing. Optional RS232 touch panel for about $50+s/h in sample quantities, same lead time.

I also have 5" 640x480 with VGA interface for about $120+s/h, optional touch panel about $50+s/h.

VGA can be generated with as little as 3 pins (B/W), 5 pins (8 color), 8 pins (64 color); and my Morpheus board can generate 256 colors (10 pins) and has 512KB memory on board with a full expansion bus.

The display is controlled by a FSA506 controller. We wrote all the code in assembly and the display
is pretty quick. We are also looking for a good Graphics Processor Unit (GPU) for the 800 x 480 display.

    Bill,

Thanks for the info but we need either an 8 or 16 bit interface.

I have one of Thaieasy's 2.8" lcd, and I am driving it with a PIC18F4580.

    http://www.thaieasyelec.net/index.php/display-module/breakout-board/breakout-board-2-8-inch-qvga-tft-lcd-with-touch-screen/p_3.html

I bet if you contact them, they would design what they call a breakout board with a suitable controller.

    sparkfun buy from them

that makes a huge difference; also there is the matter of shipping and importing from thailand - plus a small profit.

    Mike,

That is a nice display and is almost exactly the same size as ours. They just finished the mold for our case in China
and it is too late to change the display cutout size & bezel.

Too bad they don't offer it with a controller, we really don't want to fool around with adapter boards.
