Parallax USB Oscilloscope works in Linux with WINE

I have the Parallax USB Oscilloscope working in Debian Lenny/Linux 2.6.26-2-686,
WINE version: wine-1.0.1-174-gc4039bd

After installation the program runs fine, but does not show any COM ports available.
The COM ports can be made available by adding some entries to the registry and
creating a symbolic link. The program appears to be fully functional after doing this.

I didn't have to do any compiling or anything like that, I'm simply using the version
of WINE that comes from the Debian repository with apt-get. I think it'll probably
work on Ubuntu too.

Sometimes the program is very slow if you start it with the scope plugged in.
Starting the program before plugging in seems to fix this problem.

I've posted a thorough how to on my blog.

    Hi,

Thanks for posting this. I will have to try it later on.

I've had the propeller tool and Hanno's viewport installed (trial version) on Debian but never managed to get the serial ports recognized, even with the sym links.

I will have to check out your blog and let you know if it works here.

    Thanks again!

    Hi!

I have tested Parallax USB scope with Wine 1.3.10 and have some issues.

    My setup is:
    USB Oscilloscope v5.1.1
    Wine 1.3.10
    GNOME 2.32.0
    Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick

I have applied the serial port patch. Now scope is detected, and I can see the measurement in the upper waveform. But CH1 and CH2 seems drawing in black...

Do you know a fix for this issue?

    Thanks and regards,
    Attila
