Need SD card WAV file player, please.

Hey, guys.

I need to use rayman's sd card wav player object for a project I need to get done by tommorowish. I have used the object before but when I tried to get it to play my own wave files it completely failed.

So, is there a version that can just play any type of wav file easily using FSRW? I'm really in kinda a time rush here so if I could get some help with a full proof version that will interface with the hydra sd card reader perfectly and just search the root directory for a named wav file and play that would really be nice.

Thank you for your help, a version with all the software ready to go (including a compatible FSRW)·will be appreciated. (I don't need samples).

I have no idea whether this will work for you, but here's my archive copy from 2 years ago.

I think that Rayman's player will adjust for most sample rates, but only plays 8 bit mono and 16 bit stereo formats. I found that out a few months ago when I needed to play a 16 bit mono WAV file and had to hack his code to get it to work.

I don't know of any version that is completely general. You probably need to find out what formats you need to play to be able to get a working player; being able to play all formats may be too much to ask for unless there's a wave player release that can do this that I'm not aware of.

Mike: Wow, that is an old wav player! I think that's before I was even aware of the Prop's existence...
Looks like it's reading block mode from an MMC card and playing a mono wav.

Kye: If you make your wav 16-bit stereo, I'm pretty sure my driver will work...

Do you have a newer version with support for the new FSRW or such?

Kye: I just posted a revised version with FRSW2.1 or 2.2 (I don't remember which) a couple weeks ago. But, the forum search and search.parallax.com both fail to find it...

Ah, I just used the other one up by David Sloan and it worked great.

Um, would you have to know of a good file->wav tool? I just tried ripping songs with wmp and it apparently makes it own custom wav file headers.

Here's a new version that fixes the problem playing computer generated music and also adds very basic volume control.

Uses the new version of FSRW.

Also, it's more clear how to change pin#s...

If I hear back that it works, I'll post it in OBEX... Posted 7/20/2009 8:39 PM (GMT -4)

Audacity is a great, lightweight tool for audio editing and format converting -- it's cross-platform and the price is right ($0).
