    I was thinking too, wait a minute, we can generate piano tones using the prop....

    True, true on both counts. But wouldn't that be missing the point? I would even consider it cheating to install solenoids on an electric piano. What makes it cool is that the sound generation part is entirely electromechanical and acoustic.

    Update: Now that I think about it, to directly simulate such a system electronically would require polyphony that's probably beyond the capacity of most synthesizers, be they electric pianos or midi-controlled.

    Would it be possible to generate a single sound effect such as a bell, using either a single pin or single PWM output?

    I remember having a program years ago on my Altair that played music using the INTE pin. That was well before the synthisizer chips we have now. It sounded like a Moog but didn't take up nearly the memory that digital audio does now. This was before CD's and such.

    I have an interesting project in mind but it must be limited to one COG.

    Oh sure it's possible. The Prop can generate nearly any sound imaginable, including speech (using Chip's voice synth object).
