Hey Gang..

Ken is on the road and away from his computer.. Here's a quick update he asked to have posted to the forums.

=========================================================================

I’m traveling a bit and don’t have time to get to the forums, but I’d really like it if you could provide them with an update on the DIP 40 Prop chips.

The wafers have been received at the packaging company, and we expect to have packaged chips under test within two weeks. This would provide a delivery date to Parallax by the last week of October. And this shortage will probably not happen again because we’ve made provisions in our planning tools to protect our customers from internal human errors.

Ken

    I wonder: will paranoia reign so that everyone buys several DIP props in order to never be short again, and Parallax runs out? Reminds me of the popular black swan principle.

    Hmm, prop chips as possible world reserve currency?

    Mostly they work on breadboards for experimentation and prototyping. You can also use through-hole parts and techniques with them for "one-of" projects including point to point wiring and (gasp!) wirewrap.

    What?
    I'm still fooling around with thermionic valves!
    Always trying to find the perfect application of a DIP Prop and a few 12AX7s.

    Yep. They are just easy. And, if you've got a number of projects, but not all that many Props, moving them around is no big deal.
