Oh no. . . not this again. Marketing has gone mad with the discounts. "Lauren, please come to my office!". Tell the outdated curmudgeon about the new ways of doing business!

    Ken,
While you've got her in there, tell her to make the Prop Proto Board USB the next special. There are 1478 of those in stock. Probably a whole 40' trailer full. 50%, no, 75% off. Get rid of them...
    Thanks. Rich.

Wish they offered a trade-in for my Stamp USB Professional Development Board. It's been collecting a lot of dust lately.

Remember the old Woz signed Apple IIgs machines?

I sent a suggestion into Jim that they should have Chip autograph the back of a bunch of these...

OBC: Did you know the inside of the original mac case had all the designers signatures in the plastic case?

One of my modems had an easter egg. Don't think it was ever found... "ATwho"

The PPDB is seriously awesome, I got mine after the last Daily Deal on 'em just in time to be able to run a second video out for debugging, ethernet card, two serial ports, and a SD card for a project I was working on. And it was all breadboarded temporary so I didn't have to commit a protoboard to the layout, which was good because it went through quite a bit of rearranging (SD card is no longer there, for example). Unlike the Demoboard the EE is in a socket so you can upsize it for those projects where you use upsize EE. Only downside is that you need a DIP Prop to make it work. I got mine when I previously bought my Hydra book, which I wanted anyway for its video docs; the Hydra book alone and with prop are the same price so I got it with prop. Came in handy when my propless PPDB arrived.

You can use a propstick. It obviously can't go in the DIP40 socket, but you can use it like I use my Stamp PDB with the Propstick. I put the propstick in the middle of the breadboard and run wires over to it for the appropriate connections. It worked well when I first started with the Prop because the Stamp PDB supplies 5 volts for the propstick.

You can also make a Propstick to DIP40 adapter out of 2 stacked 40 pin sockets. Just remove pins 10, 12, and 32 from the bottom socket (IE to remove the connection for the 5 volt input on the propstick) and solder wires to pins 10 and 32 on the upper socket to reroute VIN and 3.3 VDD out that didn't exist on the DIP40.
