Simple curcuits for dummies?

I was wondering if there was a good site showing how to "wire-up" simple components like buttons, potentiometers, etc.

Just figuring out how to use drop-down resisters with buttons took me forever to finally figure out and now I am stuck trying to
make an RC timing circuit to read potentiometer values.

I just can't seem to relate circuit diagrams to "what pin needs to be wired to what".

Looking for a site that has pictures of the actual components wired up.

Seems like every site I go to explains nicely how to wire up an LED then jumps to something exotic leaving
out the in-between stuff.

This is a nice site that I found:
    www.wiring.org.co/learning/tutorials/diagrams.html

but it seems geared to micro computers that have an analog input.

Have you looked at the various Parallax tutorials starting with "What's a Microcontroller?" and including the "StampWorks Manual", "Basic Analog and Digital", and the "Basic Stamp Syntax and Reference Manual"? All of these have schematics, drawings of how to connect the parts, and sample code. They're all downloadable for free. There are also the Nuts and Volts Columns, also downloadable from Parallax.

Go to the main Parallax webpage and click on the Resources tab. You'll see "Nuts and Volts Columns" in the list you get and "Downloads and Press". On the Downloads page, you'll see a list including "Stamps in Class Downloads" which will take you to the list of tutorials.

Being mainly interested in the propeller, I hadn't thought to look at the basic stamp tutorials. I will check them out.
