ReBOOT issues with the PWMPAL?

Hello All

·I have finally got the time to try out the PWMPAL from Parallax. It works quite well, How ever.
When I power down the board and power it back up the motor does not run with a button press. The DEBUG screen shows an increasing·count value but the motor is not running.
If I down load the program again(to the BS2)·the motor will run with a button press.

The PWMPAL is mounted underneath a BS2 and is on a Pro.Devp.Board.
I have assembled the circuit correctly as its works.

Their seems to be a communication issue when the·STAMP/ PWMPAL reboots?

Any help would be greatly Appreciated.

__Thanks in advance_______________$WMc%_____

This sounds suspiciously like an situation where the PWMPAL hasn't actually lost power. Using the BOE it is possible to turn the power off on the board, turn it back on and have the program still be running because the 1000uF capacitor was keeping the BASIC Stamp running.

I see where Your going with this. And I think You for the input. I'm using the Pro.Dev.Board and not the BOE.
I do however have a faulted pulse generator on My Pro.Dev.Board, I think this could be causing me some trouble.

I'm moving the project over to My son's BOE to see if it works better.

    Thanks for the reply

I moved the project over to the BOE. And sure enough, I get the same results.I did notice the debug window hooked up by it self when I turned the power back on.I usually have to open the COM port to restart the DEBUG window?

Some what aggravated, I held down the reset button on the BOE for about 30 seconds. I then hit the run button on PIN 8 and the motor ramped up like it should. From this I can carry on with My project.

If You have any insider tricks to deal with this little bug with the PWLPAL. It would greatly be appreciated

The bug is with the DEBUG window. Close the DEBUG window, ReBOOT the PWMPAL/BS2 and every thing works fine.

Well, just as a sanity check it doesn’t seem like you’re losing power completely, regardless of board. But it is unclear to me now after your latest posts if the PWMPAL is not operating properly or if the program was still running (therefore not restarting). If you press the reset button briefly the program still does not run normally? Do you really have to hold it down for 30 seconds?

Like you stated in your first reply about the lack of power loss to shut down a program, I seem to be getting power from the serial cable. I unplug the cable, Rebooted the stamp/PWMPAL and the motor started running.

Now that I know whats causing this little BUG I can work around it.

I have been able to duplicate these findings in a test setup to verify this is the problem.

It was Your input that helped me find this BUG.

    _________Many Thanks________$WMc%___________
