Not quite Parallaxian, but here are my newest "programming projects"! Mr & Mrs Erco are proud to present Amy Shannon (6 lbs 3 oz, 18.5") and Lindsey Nicole (5 lbs 9 oz), born 6 pm on October 3. If you see less of me in these forums for·a decade or two, you'll know what my two excuses are. Mom & daughters are doing just fine; all·beautiful & healthy!

Design notes: bottle fetching robot, poopy diaper/methane detector, diaper changing robot...

Dear Erco: Congratulations! The reason I woke up at 4:00 a.m. this morning is because it's easiest to work when everybody else is asleep. Just keep your electronics gear handy and plan ahead for 10-minute periods of programming!

October 3rd is the same birthday as Chip -- bet Amy and Lindsey will be a couple of bright stars!

    Sincerely,

Once a friend announced the birth of a daughter to another friend, who replied, "Whom do you suspect?"

Naah. Congratulations! Have you figured out what caused them?

    Erco,

Congratulations! ... in no time you will be bouncing one (or both) of them on your knee while programming. You just need a small firmware upgrade to your brain that allows you to multi-task more effectively. - lol

    Congrats erco!

I think what you need is a Sleep Inducer. One that automaticcaly puts you to sleep when it detects a screem of a certain frequency range.

Probably doable with a Stamp, an A/D converter, and a big servo mounted on your head to slap you hard and put you out of your misery.

Very true, Holly. But the wife is workout buff and she will be chomping at the bit to get back to exercising and riding our tandem road bike ASAP. Yes, she was on the back on the bike in those fairly recent videos in her delicate condition! I must admit that the video looks twice as fast/dangerous as it actually was. Somewhere between the camera lens, recording format, and Youtube compression, we jumped to light speed! We were riding very conservatively these last several months with two little charges along. But I can truly say that we had 4 people on our tandem bike and 4 people in my Cessna 152 2-seater, just one week before she delivered!

I think the only running (and biking) in our near future is running to Babies R Us for more diapers at 7 per day per girl. YIKES. There goes my Parallax mad money. How come nobody told me?

    in my Cessna 152

You will need a 4 seater soon smile.gif

    Isn't the 172 a 4 seat version of the 152?

    JHB_C172.jpg

I get to ride in an old Mooney often...usually on trips to Phoenix...it would be roomy enough
for your newly expanded family...but then the Cessnas give you a better view of the ground since the
    wing is on top. smile.gif
    201jw.jpg

The old Mooney has the 2 extra tanks that hold about 35 gallons extra so it can go all the way to Catalina
from here (approx 950miles) with gas to spare...but it's a long trip of almost 5hrs at the plane's speed....your ears ring for
a few days from the noisy ride. The Catalina airport is kind of creepy...the end of the runway is just a big drop
    off a cliff :-(

Do you ever fly out to Catalina?

Holly, again you·wow me with another aspect of your tech knowledge; flying. Yes, we have flown to Catalina many times. It's very close to LA (my plane is at Hawthorne Airport), yet it has·that far-away island feel.·It's my favorite landing strip at 1602 feet in the air, "as close to an aircraft carrier landing as civilians get to do" with cliffs on each end. Not creepy, challenging! We fly over with two Dahon folding bikes (yes it's a very tight fit) and ride 10 miles to Avalon. A very·steep climb out of Avalon. Lots of wildlife & buffalo along the way, as the pic shows. Get your Mooney ready and let's all fly over there for lunch! Oh, I can't. I just remembered I have twins now... smile.gif

I just can't imagine how you got two bikes into that plane!?!?

You guys are just so hard core! Riding all the way to Avalon.
It makes me hot and sweaty just imagining it. I have a bike!
It is mostly pink colored and has a white wicker basket on the
front... I last rode it about 10yrs ago..LoL

I know that round building in small1.jpg smile.gif
I have slept on a sailboat a few times with that round building just
    to the left of me...

It's my Dad's... It used to be my grandfathers. It stays at my uncle's ranch all the
time because he has a hard packed dirt/caliche strip and he uses it a lot. Dad never uses it
any more. It had to have the engine renewed recently and it cost an amazing amount of $
He also has a 40yr old plane called a Skymaster... it has 2 engines but one is
in the front and one in the back instead of both on the wings...but it uses a lot
more gas than the Mooney so it stays on the ground mostly.
Next time I'm up I will take the keychain cam and get some vid.
flying is easy-landing is hard smile.gif

Hey! an idea just occurred to me... you could take some really strong tape like that
metallic tape and stick a keychain cam on the outside of the plane...one on top facing forward
and one facing backward on the bottom would get some great footage....might have to use
a Q-Tip to clean the little lens afterward smile.gif

That round building is called the Casino, but no gambling there these days.

Yes, my flying buddy wants to stick his cam on top of my plane's rudder so he can see the wing flaps & ailerons deflect as we maneuver around.

One of these days! But the wife & twins just came home from the hospital last nite, so I'm pretty busy right now. Very cute girls, even through my sleep-deprived eyes!
