USB to serial connector

I am using a laptop with no COM port so I'm using a USB to serial convertor.

The Basic STamp software keeps giving me an error saying no COM ports were found.

Yes, I haveinstalled the driver for the cable and yes I have the latest software.· When I go under the port options, there is no way for me to change the port to a USB port.

How do I use the USB port?

    You may have a USB to serial converter that cannot be used for programming Stamps. The converter must properly implement DTR and the transfer delays from the PC to the serial port must be short enough. FTDI converters work and the Keyspan High Speed USB to Serial Adapter works.

    Remember that the Stamp must be working for it to be recognized by the Stamp Editor. That means that it must have power. Also, check your cables. There have been some cases of bad cables.

    It turns out that there was a second driver ???
