Is there any completed code / schematics·for an RFID Door? I seen the video but didn't see any SX/B code listing for it or schematics. Anyone know? I have a backyard cabin finished into a lab work area that I would like to "techify" it starting with security at the door. I don't have a great mechanical background and don't know much about·installing door handles or keypads, etc. but a good set of instructions·or a·"kit" would be helpfull. ·

    door handles

Take a look at this· very easy to install and work on you can run off of 24 volt @·220 mill-amps or· 12 volts @·440 mill-amps·····

The type that go in the door handles are very hard to install and hard to·work on and·they do not last very long

·In another life I use to work on these and.......>>>>>

    I think they are Smile·· smile.gif

    keypads

If you have a milling machine you can take a plastic electrical box and cut out the opening for the key pad if you do not you can PM me and I can cut it out for you

    I hope this Helps

The maglocks are nice. T&E -- the reason for maglocks versus some kind of actual solenoid or mechanically activated "lock" or deadbolt is that in the event of a catastrophic power outage, the door can be opened without electricity or even a UPS backup (i.e. electricity is required only to keep the door locked, not to unlock it). The downside is that it's always drawing current, and of course, in the event of a power outage, anybody can get in smile.gif

Re: SX and RFID -- the RFID reader sold by Parallax is quite simple. A few serial statements in SX/B and you should be on your way.

Thanks for the information. Is this something I could get at Lowes or I must get online? I wasn't quite able to follow how this is mounted. Is the door handle still left in place? I really would like something simple with a basic amount of tools and maybe a drill is ok. I like the idea about having a backup way to get in but is there anything else out there?

You can buy them online or probably through any security company or locksmith. They do not mount on the handle at all -- the maglocks mount at the top of the door frame -- easy to install, very little work needs to be done to the door.

Basically the maglock and it's electronics bolt/screw into the wall right at the top of the door frame and the plate screws into the top of the door. When the door is closed, the plate just touches the huge electromagnet in the maglock -- when energized, the magnet prevents the door from being pulled open (that's the rating: 650lb means it would take 650lbs of force to break the magnetic force on the plate; the door would probably crack before the magnet would "let go").

I only place that I have seen these are on line now you might find a lock smith shop they might get theme for you

·The type that I·have in the link has a plate that mount to the door and the electric magnet mounts to the door frame

Like ZOOT said in his Post it is very esay to install
