IR sensor for TV remote - no signal
I have the IR sensor that parallax sells.
In this case I'm trying to read the signal(s) from the remote that came with our new satellite dish box.
I've tested everything so I know everything works (I've switched between a remote that works and this new one).
There is one difference; the new remote has two IR LEDs that send the signal instead of usual one. This could be the reason the signal cannot be picked up by the sensor.
Is there someone who would know how to solve this riddle?
Cheers,
Shmow

1) Your satellite system remote is almost certainly not sending the Sony television protocol control codes that most Parallax software decodes. Sorta like a Frenchman speaking to an American. Ain't gonna work. Your sensor may detect the 38 kHz carrier, but can't decode the pulse pattern.
2) Your satellite system might use a 56 kHz IR carrier instead of the older 38 kHz carrier, in which case your sensor can't even detect the carrier signal.

New sat box and they wanted to just use their universal remote.
I couldn't teach the universal remote because, although the new remote had IR leds, it was UHF!
I couldn't figure out how/when it used IR....IF UHF is out of range, you're usually 100ft away...IR won't work from there.
ODD....
anyhow, make sure your new remote isn't an RF remote.

What's the best thing to do in a lightning storm? "take a one iron out the bag and hold it straight up above your head, even God cant hit a one iron!"
Lee Travino after the second time being hit by lightning!
The satellite boxes that respond to UHF remotes also work with the IR types.
You might need to get the codes from a working IR remote, you can find them at
yard sales or borrow one from a neighbor.
