· max ratings? running at 5 volts or not using the Power down mode?

    Yes. Running at 5V and not using the power down mode. I don't know for certain, but I suspect there's a heat dissipation issue and running it continuously at 5V, particularly transmitting using 5V all or most of the time could shorten its life.

    Most Transcievers have such a limitation. And it is strictly reguarding the transmit mode. If you use a 50% or less duty cycle and limit the transmit time it should be fine. I would think a 30 second transmit time limit would be save while allowing it to cool for 30 seconds before transmitting again.
