Just saw this in a recent electronics mag... seems interesting...

Initially, delivered with basic behaviors, Nao will be introduced on the market as the ideal introduction to robots. Eventually, with many improved behaviors, it will become an autonomous family companion. Finally, with more sophisticated functions, it will adopt a new role, assisting with daily tasks (monitoring, etc.)

...

Currently in the final phase of development, the first Nao has been presented early 2007. The first units, dedicated to laboratories an universities will for sale late 2008, and the general public release is planned for the end of 2009.

they also have some interesting looking software to make programming it easier

Couldn't help notice, however, that they have the mouth where the ears go.
Linux in the belly button - at least that's correct :))

Did you see how much mem it has?

They say, "This robot has been designed to be affordable without sacrificing quality and performance."
I thought this was interesting too until I saw the price. €10,000 or roughly $15,600 - just a bit out of my·range! smhair.gif

Here is a pdf data sheet also - http://www.aldebaran-robotics.com/Files/DSV3+_Light.pdf

I missed the price reference the first time around.· That is a bit much.· But still pretty cool - that's a lot of power; basically a biped laptop ;-)

Seems to bear an uncanny resemblance to the Robosapien V2...
