I have a post on the CNC forum, over a hundred people looked at the post but no response.
Perhaps someone here has the information.

    If the stepper doesn't have a suitable keyed shaft you will have to buy or make a coupling. Something like an Oldham coupling is often used, anyway, to take care of any misalignment.

    Agree the coupling is important. There are 2 ways with the encoder. Systems I have seen were geared 16 to one and then divided with math via software in the controller. The encoders are usually mounted directly the the ball screw for greater accuracy but motor mounts are use used with spring loaded anti backlash screws. I have only worked with DC or AC servos with acuracy around .001".
