Just bought a 7X10 lathe/mill machine, any Robot Tutorials on that?

I am a novice on maching. There are a million links on the lathe operation , but I only could find one link on actually using the lathe, mill to make robot parts.

Thanks in advance.

There should be plenty of tutorials or manuals on making things with a mill/lathe. To make 'robot parts' just cut away all the stuff that doesn't look like a robot. ;) If you have a specific question ask it. It would also help if you told us which machine you got.

You might check out the 7-12minilathe yahoo group. You can learn a lot from them.

Are you trying to make a CNC machine?

MovieMaker I would be very interetsed if you are trying to make CNC, I just bought one of those all in one machines its a lathe, Mill and drill press its actually pretty nice but all manual the bed is almost 4 feet and I can mill a pretty big area
almost 12X36 but I would love to be able to make this into some kind of CNC machine the bed will move automatically if you engage it so will the table but its all manually controlled

I thought you guys already new. It is a Harbor Freight 7X10 lathe with a Milling machine kit that I will put together to do small (1/4 bits) stuff at a time.

·I would certainly love to make a CNC machine, but I don't have the resources right now. In fact , I spent all the money on the lathe and don't have enough to buy stock. I plan to visit a junk yard or something later, maybe even Dumpster Dive. I am broke. But, I enjoy looking at it.· Ha!Ha!· I still need to get a Quick tool changer and some carbide inserts and indexing bits. But, that will come later. My next aquisition will be some dogs and a faceplate.

Mike, I was going to get that VERY machine. But, I was told that the Mill part of it did not work that well and only the Lathe part was good. Right after I was told that, this particular lathe went on sale. So, I jumped at it. Also, the machine I wanted like yours had to be special ordered, It would come in from 2-3 weeks.· I had no way to lift it. (I have a bad back) So, I was forced to stay with something I could actual move around in the shop.· I used to have two unimate lathes but they were WAY to small unless you are a clock maker. For me, that is.

It seems that with a Lathe and a Foundry (which will probably be my next logical step) you could make almost Anything· you can imagine.

Oh, and Curt. . . it is funny you should mention the swarfrat page, I actually sold a motorcycle to buy the lathe.
