Parallax RFID USB Reader with Arduino

Hey everyone,
I've got a Parallax RFID USB reader sitting around, and I was hoping to use it to design an Arduino controlled access system as a project. I know the serial RFID reader is much easier to use for this, but I was hoping maybe I could just strip the mini-B usb cable connected to the reader and connect the pins to 5v, GND, RX, and TX. Anyone know if this is possible? I know USB uses +5VDC, Data+, Data-, and GND on its pins, so I was hoping it'd be as easy as just connecting up the USB component cables to RX, TX, 5v, and GND on the Arduino.
Any help would be really great as I'd love not to have to order another reader for this.
Thanks!
Landon
