Hi!

I am starting a project on chemical instrumentation using a Ad5666 DAc from Analog Device.

I'm wondering if anybody in this forum had already use this chip, just to have some tips how to set input and ADC registers.

Thanks so much from Italy

Carlo

I think that the biggest problem will be getting the PCB layout right so that you can use all 16 bits.

    Thanks!

Fortunately, PCB layout is already OK.

My problem is the following, I do not have any experience on interfacing this chip, I was just looking for some sample code to speed up firmware development. y experience on DAC is mainly on 12-bit DAC from Microchip.

You won't find out if the layout is OK until you actually use it!

It has a 4 wire SPI interface. It shouldn't be a problem (software-wise) to interface, just be sure to have the data line stable when the clock transitions from high to load because the data is latched at that moment. No, I haven't used it.

There is an evaluation board available with pictures of the top/bottom layers here: [url|http://www.analog.com/static/imported-files/eval_boards/502607298AD5666EB_0.pdf. But I assme you already had a lokk at it :-D

Thanks for the advise of data latching, it shouldn't be a problem with SPI_ASM object.

My problem is to figure out the correct settings of registers, the data sheet isn't so rich in information! I know that an evaluation board is available, I'll think about.

    Thanks to everybody!

the SPI_ASM object seems now to work fine.
