Standard ISO-7816 Smart Card incorporating 1KByte of EEPROM storage and a Programmable Security Code, Standard Byte Addressing, with three wire serial bus. Suitable for 10,000 write and erase cycles together with data retention of ten years. Ideal for parking, stored value or access control systems.
Features
• Standard ISO-7816
• Long-Life Contact Material
• 1KByte EEPROM with Programmable Security Code
• Ideal for Sensitive Data and Security Systems

Is this card or any other able to be read and written to using a microcontroller. The card above can come with a socket that is closed when card inserted. Is it possible to read and write using I2C or another protocol.

Its a question, but I see it looks a bit like an add as I copied the info about the card from the site I'd be buying off.

Thanks for having a look. BTW I have just uploaded the datasheet.

It doesn't look like I2C but it looks like it is a straight forward sync serial protocol. Interesting all the other smart cards I have used, used a async serial interface. The signal levels will mean a bit of interfacing to a prop, the min high voltage is 3.5V.
