sup guys, i need some help. Im on the verge of getting a Banebot geared motor from robotshop.com for a two wheel project that im working on.·http://http://www.robotshop.ca/rbban31-banebots-spur-gearmotor.html

My question is : is anyone familiar with this geared motor? can it spin freely by hand if theres no voltage applied to it?

I know with the gearbox/motor arrangements·that i work with its almost impossible to turn a gearbox by hand.

Any good· sources out there for small (12vdc) electromechanical clutches?

What·i want to be able to do is mobilize this bot·with two dc motors at the·wheel with the option to override the motor and push it by hand w/o damaging parts.

worse case id have to design a way to engage and disengage the motor with some mechanical arrangement

feedback greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance

You can find the electrical clutches in small desk top laser based copiers "dry toner process" the larger copiers uses 24vdc for this purpose. We tend to toss out a lot of them when they start to slip and miss that uSec timing that is needed to keep the paper inline at all times. These clutches can be cleaned and work like brand new but we don't skimp out on our clients to save us a few dollars. So if you know or see a small laser printer or copier on the side of the road then bingo you have what you need and best of all it's FREE..Plus you'll start a great wealth of electronic sensors, parts, gears, chips, bases to cut out for your new creation and the list goes on..
