Transistor help

Can anyone help me with transistor selection and set up?
I have a· program set up to output a random PWM signal lighting a led inorder to simulate a candles natural flicker. I now need to drive a 110vac packaged bank of leds. My output is anywhere from 2.3 volts to 5 volts and I would like to bias a transistor to drive the 110v bank with the varing output to also simulate the same flicker and maybe include a pot to adjust total brightness.

Any ideas appreaciated

Thanks

You will need to look into triacs or other high power devices and isolation to make sure you don't get 110 back into the system. EFX-TEK.com may have something already put together. Single transistors won't work with AC.

That said, for 110V AC you will need to deal with the zero crossing, preventing your PWM from operating exactly as it does for the mocked down LED testing that you have done.

    Thanks for the replies,

I think that perhaps I will go into the packeged unit and drive the LEDs directly instead of trying to deal with the 110v supply issues at all.

Thanks so much for the help
