HopeRF modules with the Basic Stamp

Hi all!

Does anyone have any experience interfacing the HopeRF modules to the Basic Stamp? In particular I'm using the 433mHz RFM12 DIP module. I'd like to get this up and running, but haven't got the foggiest where to start.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Page 7 shows a typical connection. It is communicated with by SPI which the stamp does with shiftout.

    Ah. Very cool.

    Anyone have a basic idea of demo send and receive code?

    Check out the SHIFTOUT section of the reference manual. The rest depends on what the device wants and needs and how you plan to use it.

    Yeah, that's what the forum post was originally about. If anyone has used them before and knows what they want/need.

    Thanks for the info for the circuit. I can at least have a play around until someone with some prior experience with the HopeRF unit can find this!

    CumQuaT--

    My following post is either spam or a shamless ploy to get Parallax to produce a product. Consider it thusly.

    <spam>

    Hey! CumQuaT and All! Forget that RF stuff and wait until Parallax introduces their new super-duper WiFi-BOE module! That will be an incredibly easy to use and highly robust device. Plus, they have already announced their intention to produce it!

    hahahaha well, I also recently purchased the Parallax wireless transmitter and receiver pack and am looking forward to having the time to play around with it.

    I'm loving the new stuff Parallax is coming out with lately. Especially since I just spent like $300 on the ImagesCo speech recognition kit which Parallax released a 1/4 price competitor of only a week later! :-P

    So no-one has any idea of where to start when it comes to getting one of these to work with a Basic Stamp? Code ideas? Anyone?

    This is a very complex part with a lot of settings and not very much information other than that the control information can be sent via SPI (using SHIFTOUT / SHIFTIN) from a Stamp. You're just going to have to do your own experimentation and let us know how to configure the part so it's easily usable. You might try contacting the manufacturer to see whether there are any application notes or reference designs available.

    Yeah, perhaps... I imagine they'd have designed it to be fairly generic across micros, so hopefully somewhere there is some info... I just don't even know where to begin!

    Ho hum! Parallax needs to have a nice small module like this wink.gif
