lol! these daily deals really are amazing! I finally just bought a PropPlug the other day for $15. The next thing I want is a PING sensor (parallax I hope your listening tongue.gif )

The Propeller board really looks amazing. IMO there is a little too much stuff on one board, and I prolly wouldn't use most of it.

Unofrtunately you need a DIP for it smhair.gif

That is really an amazing deal though. I won a raffle at UPENE and even the breadboard itself is the best one I've ever used.

I was trying to think if I ordered a PCB, layed·out just like that one..ordered all the parts· etc, I'm pretty sure not even counting the time it would take to put together it would cost WAY more than $100!

Brandon,

Oddly, typical feedback is the customer wants more…like RJ-45 w/possibly RS-485 chip, uOLED, etc.· I never heard anyone say there was too much on a development board.

Hey Chris,

Yeah my opinions are allot different from others. I don't like to over complicate my projects, but instead make them as simple as possible.

That's the nice thing about the PPDB. Nothing is attached to the breadboad. You only attach what you need so you can keep it short and simple.

IMHO, when you consider everything that's included in the PPDB it's a bargain for what you get.

Brandon, the PPDB is nice - there's enough room on it to keep things tidy, with the one exception that probably applies to all bread/dev boards: lot's of spaghetti :))

Yuck! I hate spaghetti! Pizza is much better. wink.gif

The PPDB is good for prototyping. If I had the money, I would get one. but I'm just saying there would probably be a lot of unused features. That may not be the same for most people, who like to do anything they possibly can with the propeller.

And Pizza with Beer is even better <G>

> but I'm just saying there would probably be a lot of unused features.

guess it does depend, like you say. And yet it's nice when you have a new idea and realize that the thing you need is already there. Never thought I'd need all those LEDs and buttons at the same time as the servo header - until I needed exactly that :))

More, IMO, is always better... but I suppose too much of a good thing (like Pizza and Beer) isn't. LOL

Unfortunately, if you buy one of these, and you don't already have a DIP prop, you will have to wait, because the DIP props are out of stock. Anybody have an ETA on the dip props?

I took a good look at them a UPENE last weekend.
very impressed.
Well, then they give me 68 dollars off, case closed.

Now just to wait 10 days for delivery.

As a matter of fact, I was just wondering how I was going to breadboard a setup I need with a Ucontroller PropNIC (which takes 5 pins) and two channels true RS232 (which takes most of the breadboard on a demoboard and 4 pins). And I have a DIP Prop from paying the $0 premium for the plus-prop option when I bought my Hydra book. Looks like I will be whipping out the old credit card in a few.

ON EDIT: CC whip-out accomplished.· I think it might be fun to do a census of how many propellers each of us have in our personal collections.· I have 4 demoboards, 3 protoboards in various states of populatitude, a spin studio, and just ordered a PPDB.· I also have 2 PropRPMs reserved for customers as backups, one virgin protoboard, and a Morpheus I haven't got around to populating with chips and testing.

I have 3 Protoboards USB (2 I got for free at the expo and the other traded for it) 1 Demo board, 3 DIPs with a PE kit and the other 2 are unused. I don't see how everyone else goes through Props so fast, I have had the 2 DIPs for almost a year. Oops! I forgot there for a second, my Hydra came with a DIP. That's 4.

I am microcontrolled.

If it's not Parallax then don't even bother.

I have changed my avatar so that I will no longer be confused with others who use generic avatars (and I'm more of a Prop head then a BS2 nut, anyway)
