Window motors for 30 bucks--just get them at the junkyard for 5 (mine was free, someone scrapped it and I cleaned out the rust)
1 vcr circuitry 15 bucks--are you trying to jip us? I got a full vcr for $3.50 at a thrift store!
1 electric weed whacker motor, 40 bucks. Holy cow! I got one for free because the battery was all worn out, and from seeing the motor inside I know it isn't worth that much! You can go online and get stronger for 30 bucks! New!
I'm not sure about the rc remote controls...but their probably a rip-off too (you decide).

Pi Guy,

I don't know which junk yard you must be talking about that you can get decent window motors for five bucks, but all the ones around here sell them for about 50.00 each. The VCR i understand how thats too much so i'll change it to a cheaper price, and the weed wacker motor goes for atleast, atleast 15 - 20 bucks according to my friend whos been building combat robots for the last couple of years. Listen im not trying to scam anyone, so i'll lower the prices to what i now belive are reasonble prices.

Much better. It's interesting it would cost so much where you live, but whatever works I guess. I don't know how much it would cost to get something like a weed whacker motor here but if it helps I got a 1/3 hp 12v motor for 25 bucks, which is about a foot long motor and fairly heavy too. (a lot stronger than the motor you're talking about) Also, are you talking about new window motors or like-new?

I walked into one of the big junk yards several weekends ago --- they had 2 older window motors for $4 - they workded; and one new one for $10.

After getting their ok, I went and grabbed my portable oxy-acetylene cutting torch - and cut out three more. They *gave* me those three for nothing because I dug them out myself.

Someone here months ago suggested bringing coffee and doughnuts to some of the dealerships - and trade for motors. If you bring BEER on Friday afternoon, instead - you'll have more freebie motors than you can carry away.

We throw weed whackers away here because you can't sell them at yard sales unless they are nearly new.

With all due respect, I agree with PiGuy. If you really think we are both wrong, try selling them on eBay and see what results you get.

cheers

Actualy, wait that sounds like a great idea. I think i will sell them on eBay if no one wants them in the next week or two. I've done it in the past and made some profit. Seriously thou, were are you guys from, the only two main junkyards around here don't let you go get stuff yourself, and they sell their motors for (like i said before) 50.00.

P.S.
Pi Guy
the motors were taking out of a ford tarus and the only one with rust is the run that doesn't work, all the other ones are in pretty good shape.

Try taking a drive to about anywhere you can find more than 500 square feet of grass or so at a time (meaning "the sticks"). I've been to some "urban" junk yards, or big wholesale operations with high prices, but in small town America, at least in Wisconsin and Minnesota, my experiences are more in line with Pi and CRC, including the "you pull it, you take it" on smaller/cheaper parts. If you start trying to pull a whole engine, they start to be more insistent on getting paid.

[edit] Oh - Don't stop in wearing a 3 piece suit, or driving a new Mercedes.· They can smell a sucker a mile away.· It's all about attitude.· The more you make them like you, the lower the prices go. [/edit]

Be carefull though with gifts of beer. Even in the sticks, some places are starting to frown on that type of thing, not because of local managment, but because of inswurance company requirements. Something about keeping the work force sober so that they retain alll thier body parts.

OHHHH

yea, i don't know about were you guys live, but in my opinion, on long island in the suburbs, everything is twice the price compared to other places i visited (Maine, Maryland, Virginia, Massachutes, Pennselvania, Connecticut, etc.).

Which means that if you find someone in your neighborhood, or maybe someplace like Chicago or other megaolopolis, you might get what you're hoping, but for the rest of the country, it might be a little tough.
