Anyone using a DS1620 as a standalone thermostat per datasheet?

In the datasheet for the DS1620, it says its nonvolatile memory can be programmed with setpoints to run as a standalone thermostat (bottom half of page 4). I was wondering how well this actually worked. I want to make a temp controlled fan for my entertainment center and this looks like a good fit.

    Hi Andrew,
It works great. Be sure to avoid supplying power directly from the DS1620 to a load, e.g., DS1620 -> mosfet -> led/SSR, not directly DS1620 -> led/SSR.
    Code example here.

    WBA Consulting,

I concur with Tracy ; I have used this feature of the DS1620 in the attic to vent heat by controlling a fan.

Tracy, Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear. The code is a bonus, thanks. I took a quick look, but I think I will try to do mine from scratch first for the learning experience. I was planning on running a small 5v fan through a mosfet with the DS1620 output. I already have the fans and mosfets, so I just need to pick up some DS1620s.
