Freebies Table(UPENE)

Some people got some LED display's that were not like the HC4LED but bigger. They say Spectradyne Inc. Display Board.
I hooked one up the same way the HC4LED is hooked up and it worked. Try it and have fun. Use Thomas Whatson's Driver.

I have something to say about a treasure that I found on the freebie table:

The LED display boards on the freebie table were on there because they didn't have a datasheet, but what Bean didn't realize when he put the "firestarters" on there was that the displays where socketed! I realized this at the expo and grabbed about 5 on the way out. I just salvaged them here at home and have got the pinouts for them. The socketed ones are the ones with the big chip (DIP) out to the right of the display.

If it's not Parallax then don't even bother.

I thought the best part was finding the same bag of chips on the table that I donated last year!

Wonder if there would be a cost effective way to have a virtual freebie table? I have things off and on throughout the year that will end up in the heavy metal scrap bin at work that others may find useful. Maybe I'll start posting pictures of items in my junk box on my website for items that can be had for the cost of shipping. I'll try to start a rubbermaid tote for UPEW 2010 too.......

Good Idea! When buying electronics lots I usually have a bunch of junk that I would love to give away!

P.S. Bean, do you still have some of those Palm Pilot keypads? smile.gif

The migratory box of electronics might be a good idea among Propeller users.
Then we could keep it more focused on stuff we use.

The post office is able to ship a box at a fixed rate.

All we would need to do is start a list of names/addresses and someone start a box along the list.

I propose, that we initiate a trend... whomever ends up with the grab bag at the Freebies table is free to use whatever is inside (of course), but is required to add something to the bag and make it available at the next Expo. Perhaps keep a list of what was added/used and include that list within the bag. The main rule is, ... you can't look inside the bag, unless you are the one that claims it for that Expo.

    ... could be fun!

I picked up a bare pcb that looks like it uses a Propeller. Is there anyone that has info on it. Thanks!

I have one too! I think that it is a relay driver or something of the sort......

I asked what it did and he changed the subject, but then again maybe I am talking about a different board......
