I need about 60 of them.
Small ones preferred (13-15inch... 17inch max), 4:3 aspect preferred, external 12vdc switching pwr supply preferred to internal supply.

In these days of huge, wide aspect VGA monitors smaller 4:3 monitors have suddenly become scarce.

Holly, not sure what you consider cheap, but check the local computer parts suppliers. I got several 15" monitors for $90.00 (Canadian ~72.00 US) from my local distributor. Have not seen any new monitors smaller than that for a long time. If used is ok I would suggest checking with computer stores and retailers that do upgrades. They may have trade ins in that size range.

I picked up a 10-11 inch tv from my local big box furniture store for $99. TV tuner, composite in, svhs in, vga in. Wide screen format but will switch to 4:3 with side black bars.

Check your local Craigslist, unless you need all-identical units. Ever since plasma & LCD TVs & monitors came out, people are firesale-ing or giving away their perfectly good CRT monitors for no great reason other than size & style. CRT monitors have a better picture, don't cause headaches, and will outlast plasma/LCD TVs & monitors by a factor of 4 or more. Leave a new monitor on 24/7 like we used out CRTs and see how long they last. I just got a mint Viewsonic A75f 17" flatscreen CRT monitor with a perfect, gorgeous picture for $15 off CL.

Thanks for all the pointers guys smile.gif

What we need are VGA monitors that are new, in-box, smallish, 4:3 preferred, external 12v brick preferred.
I should have mentioned the new, in box part I guess, my bad. Just would look cheap to deliver a package of
all new stuff to someone but have an old surplus monitor stuck in there.

I was wanting to power the remote terminal board as well as the VGA from the 12v brick to save about $5.

I found some 17" new, wide screen with external 12v brick for about 107.00 delivered when that quantity bought.

That may be the best I can manage.... anyhow I saved the expense and eventual hassle of supplying a cheap
laptop or netbook with each package so 102.00 is not so bad. (107.00 - 5.00)

    @Phil Pilgrim
That surplus computer place has some good bargains smile.gif

Holly believe it or not the small monitors are more money and the older and smaller the more costly I needed, need a cheap mono chrome 9 pin TTL monitor you know the ones we threw out by the truck loads now I need one and can not find one used with burn in badly for under 120 bucks with no guarantee they work,,, how's that for "this blows" anyway I know a place down here in CT they have 35 brand new 14 inch Apple VGA monitors I asked but they do not know if or when they would ever get more but I know the owner
he said make an offer if you are interested give me a call or email me and I can help you get in touch with them its a surplus house but I live not to far so I could check them out for you I do not know if they come with any kind of warranty but they do have external power supplies

Ran into the same problem about a year ago trying to source 15" 12v displays for low power computing stations for a company called Inveneo. They didn't have much luck other than sourcing straight to China. The last round of builds was done using displays from a company called "Perfect Display" and they used NEC and Sharp panels in their displays. They were very supportive to quality issues. I dug through some old email and found the following contact info, might be worth a shot.

    David He
    Perfect Display Technology Co., Ltd
    Email:davidh888@gmail.com
    Phone: 86-13246732099

The pricing was in the $110-120 range and that was a year ago. Through a little research, I found it would have been cost effective to buy panels and have chassis' made locally for their needs if they bought over 200. They are a non-profit company, so they couldn't justify the design costs of there own units. Smaller panels are still very easy to get and driver boards are even easier.
