Any propeller 40 pin dip sightings in the US?

Inventory running low, Digikey and Mouser are now out. Anybody know of any other source for them? November is the target ship date and that's 2 1/2 months away!

Jameco says shipping today is available, which I guess means they have some in stock.

These guys don't say anything about stock, but they may.

If you're willing to shell out a fortune, then these guys probably have some.

Likewise with these guys.

Basically, you just have to google it...

There was an announcement by Ken Gracey that Parallax had underestimated the demand for DIP packaged Propeller chips.· There's a fairly long process from wafers to chips to packaged chips to tested packaged chips and it takes a while to increase the size of that pipeline and fill it and the demand got ahead of the size of the pipeline.· You should look for Ken's original message since it was quite detailed and I may be off in terms of some of the information.

I looked at them, one page said "in stock" another said "call for availability". That usually means out of stock.

They do NOT package them well at all, I had ordered 3 from them this week, one had the pins bent up so bad there was no way to save it, after calling them they sent me a replacement (after charging my credit card for it). It arrived, and the pins are all bent up on it as well. The sent them in a static bag, then a bubble mailer.

You aren't kidding.· I ordered 3 as well and only one was in reasonable shape.· The other two were darn near destroyed.· Some time and effort got the pins back in roughly the right positions.· I went ahead and swapped out the props I had on other boards with those·since I·didn't foresee much chip removal in the future for those boards.· Several of the pins on one were so bad I'd expect them to fail with any more bending at all.

Really crappy way to send goods if you ask me.· I find it hard to believe that they sell ICs and would ship them like that.

Wow, what horror stories about Fry's. I ordered two and am waiting to recieve them. I am glad they were not for a critical need. It is hard to believe that a store can stay in business with shipping processes that destroy the product that they are selling to you.
