sir,
ds1620 chip is for temperature.But for rpm (revolution per minute) of a tugboat engine checking,what is the suitable chip ?Please guide me about temp as well as rpm.In addition,which products of parallax com. do relate rpm (or rpm calculator ) and temperature ? (rpm calculator or rpm sensor is to be informed)

    The general method of measuring rpm is to have a sensor ( inductive proximity, Hall effect, photocell) pick up a point on the rotating part in question.This is typically a point on the shaft of the engine or one of the accessory shafts (camshaft or pump drive).

    The Stamp uses either the COUNT or PULSIN function to convert and display the value.

    There are some practical limits to how fast the Stamp can count. Do you have any additional details on the ship's engine?
