Yeah, I saw it. It seems like a rather expensive alternative to http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=9032, which all told is about $6.

Also, in the product description it says "This four-phase motor is ideal for experimenting with precision control. It has a step angle of 7.5 degrees and requires 12 VDC for operation.". What???

Anyway, they're a nice HID.

Yes, the description is a bit messed up.

I·think the price is o.k. since it's so easy to breadboard. Its not like I'm going to by a million of them. Having something ready to use for a quick prototype is very handy.

The documentation download is completely useless for someone wanting to know more about it or use it.

^ LOL - looks like they mistakenly uploaded the pcb manufacturing files instead of the user docs :) (edit - the Gerber filename suffix is a big giveaway)

But it's just 2 pots with a stick, not much to know.· Any adc pot code sample will give you an idea of what you need to do.

Btw, these can often be found in gamepads as well.

Looks like they took it off the site. Link does not work for me. Jameco says they can ship them today. I bet Parallax is going to launch them in conjuntion with the release of the next Nuts and Volts.
JohnnyMac made mention of Where's Waldo part 2 that will use tiny joysticks. Supposed to be in the Sept. issue.·
BTW, anyone know when the digital version·becomes available? Before the 1st of each month?

Documentations links fixed! Two 10K pots! An easy read with a Propeller.

Very nice! I've got one of these on it's way to me.

They look great for breadboarding! However, my only wish for them is that they had at least one(more like two) mounting holes. This way, you can actually put it into a finished project, rather than keep it on a breadboard forever.

I thought you were an electrical engineer? What about soldering it to the board?

That could work... BUT I really don't like the idea of depending on solder for mechanical stability. Bah, it'll work. :D

You can fasten anything to anything using stuff like zip ties, epoxy, hot glue, JBWeld....

I sometimes use this tool that injects hot plastic to fasten stuff together, it's like a regular
hot glue gun but hotter, smellier and more expensive....but it really gets the job done smile.gif
I used it to carefully stick an eeprom and some other tiny parts right on top of a DIP prop,
those parts ain't never comin off!
