BOM handling

I was curious how different ones here handle large Bill of Material lists for their projects.

I have a decent sized project with multiple suppliers, and it gets complicated trying to handle it at times. I am using diptrace with their system, but I have to manually add the part no categories and misc to each item, or I risk losing all the data that I already have.

The Pulsonix PCB software I use lets me assign multiple suppliers and part numbers to each part if I wish, and has user-configurable report generation with a scripting language. It also supports corporate distributed databases.

What is the approximate cost for pulsonix? I am currently around 1200 pins in my design.

I have already spent a bit on diptrace though.

Right now I am compiling a bom as spreadsheet using open office and the export function that diptrace has.

It starts at about $2800 for 1000 pins, IIRC.
